Discover the world of Boghos Taslakian, also known as "Aghassi," born on August 13, 1964, in Anjar, Lebanon. A distinguished Armenian artist celebrated for his mastery in crafting romantic oil paintings and creating renaissance-style marble and bronze sculptures featuring solitary figures.
Originating from the charming Armenian village of Anjar, Aghassi's exceptional artistic talent surfaced at a remarkably young age, sparking encouragement to pursue a formal education in the fine arts. His artistic journey commenced in 1981 at the Panos Terlemezian Art Academy in Yerevan, Armenia. However, due to political upheaval, Aghassi was compelled to leave Armenia in 1983, curtailed in his fine arts education.
In 1986, Aghassi made a significant transition to Italy, where he continued his artistic studies at the esteemed Academia di Belle Arti di Venezia. For the subsequent decade, he dedicated himself to perfecting his skills in painting and sculpting, resulting in works that distinctly embrace a romantic style, evoking the spirit of the Renaissance masters.

-L’HEBDO MAGAZINE- 5 juillet, 2002
Aghassi is an accomplished artist who uses classical technique, filtered through a modern sensibility, to produce 21st century masterpieces of emotion and strength. Romanticism and symbolism inhabit his world, but never is there a hint of cliché. His themes are timeless, deeply human and sometimes painfully humorous with self-reflection, while the characters he employs for his story-telling are unique. His palette is moody, his stroke dynamic, and the overall effect - captivatingly original. Aghassi presents classical heroic genre paintings in rich earth tones. His quixotic subjects range from cherubs on horseback to revolutionary drummers, musicians and society chess players.
